I'm not writing about her nonchalant French half-singing, but rather her lifelong animal involvement. Any woman that retires at 39 after a life of Gainsbourg and bikinis to dedicate her life's work to the protection of earths creatures is a woman to worship - also you know you've done damn good work when the Sea Shepherd names a ship after you. Literal goals.

If you need any other convincing that Brigitte is the original Queen B.

I'm thinking of kindness a lot at the moment; as the holiday season approaches the idea of giving and love is at the forefront of everyone's minds. The service we offer to the planet, humans and animals alike, when we are generous is grand, we are able to heal peoples hearts, minds, spirits and we are able to generate widespread love and global change.
Ram Dass said "Remember, we are all affecting the world every moment, whether we mean to or not. Our actions and states of mind matter, because we're so deeply interconnected with one another. Working on our own consciousness is the most important thing that we are doing at any moment, and being love is the supreme creative act."

There is no mistaking the St. Tropez glow of Brigitte Bardot - but more than that, there is no mistaking the love and compassion that she exudes. Animals were her passion. She gave her life and energy to the voiceless and continues to do so, even in her older age.

One search for "Brigitte Bardot Animals" and what feels like hundreds of different images pop up, Brigitte with goats, donkeys, dolphins, dogs, chimpanzees, lion cubs. Everything.
She is not redundant because she has aged - her voice hasn't dwindled because she is no longer a "sex symbol". The society we live in favours youth and beauty, deeming older women and their voices unnecessary. But her voice still speaks to me, all the way from the 60's and 70's; she calls for awareness and above all tenderness and humanity.
If we start by opening our hearts to each other, kindness to animals will fall into place.
You can't be one, without the other. Kindness and love has a snowball effect.
She gave her love to the animals, we have the capacity to give love to humans, the planet and all earthlings all at once. Magic!!
Love has no bounds, no borders. Choose to SEE! The universe only lets you see what you can do something about. If we perceive or we see something that angers or motivates us, we make a mistake if we don't see it as an invitation to act. The universe has given us the discernment and it trusted us in this moment with everything that is required to take the first step.

What is so essential to understand is that we are covalently linked to that which we came from, the ecosystem and the earth. That is what makes us earthlings - we share this inherent link yet we desecrate humans, the land, animals and the sea every moment. If we choose compassion everything else will fall into place.

So, today, we can all make like Brigitte, be compassionate, be conscious, be loving, be the change you wish to see on this planet. It all starts with you. You have the power to be an Alchemist and change the planet for the better.
