Hear lies the morning routine that reduces my total sleep by 30 minutes.
I do really enjoy a nice morning ritual, that helps me get ready for the day/life ahead. I've got lots of magic concoctions and vitamins in my kitchen that I take every morning to keep me in tip top condish. At this rate I think I'm actually reversing aging faster than I age. Lets go!

Upon rising - I practice the ancient Ayurvedic method of tongue scraping which helps rid excess ama from our body. The tongue is often looked at as the window to whats going on in our bodiy and organs so tongue scraping is an essssssential morning ritual that will leave you feeling awake and invigorated.

Not pictured is the Reishi, Ashwaghanda, Astralagus and numerous mushies I take for immunity and overall vitality. Mushrooms are for another day, promise! Also B12, because if you're eating mostly plants you do require an external source of Vitamin B.

We start off with an organic lemon in hot water on an empty stomach - occasionally I'll multitask and brew my green tea and lemon in one go if I'm really lacking in time. (But lets just say I didn't snooze my alarm for 10 minutes and I've got time.) So, hot lemon water is extremely beneficial in the morning. The ayurvedic ritual was used to flush toxins (called ama) from the body.
Here are some reasons;

  • Lemons are high in Vitamin C as well as calcium, potassium, magnesium, iron and vitamins A and B-complex as well as pectin fibers. Lemon’s citric acid and strong antibacterial, antiviral and immune-boosting magic is going to keep you healthy and glowing.
  • Lemon helps produce bile which aids in healthy digestion as well as flushing toxins out of your body through its liver cleansing properties.
  • Hot water and lemon in the morning assists with creating a more alkaline environment in your stomach and overall body.
  • Lemons help stimulate cell growth and reproduction, going hand in hand with good skin. This can also be attributed to the high Vit C content which will help prevent wrinkles and fight the damage from free-radicals.
  • Lemon is one of the most alkalising foods around because it contains both ascorbic and citric acid that help keep your pH levels on the ideal end of the stick. (You literally can buy pH testing sticks.) Drinking lemon in the morning on an empty stomach helps remove overall acidity from your body including bone deposits that cause pain.

Next I will do shots...of Noni Juice. I have been taking noni juice since I was about 6 years old after my dad and mum introduced it into my household. The noni fruit grows in volcanic soils high in essential minerals, vitamins and nutrients. Sometimes described as the "aspirin of the ancients", Noni is found in places such as Tahiti, Hawaii and Fiji. Noni has been used traditionally medicinally in many ancient cultures, for overall health benefits. It is a miracle for infections and skin disorders. A word of warning - it tastes awful. But the health benefits outweigh the insanely unappetising taste. You can get some brands that add fruit juice to it, which I honestly think is an unnecessary addition, especially for a morning routine that should be light and invigorating.

  • Noni is high in enzymes which aid with digestion, increasing much needed secretions. Digestive health is the keystone to overall health, so enhanced digestion causes better health. No questions.

  • Noni has a very low pH of 3.4-3.8. It is acidic in nature so contains powerful anti-viral, anti-fungal, anti-tumour and antihistamine properties. It is excellent in combating candida and other yeast overgrowths. Despite its low pH it's overall effect on the body is balancing the pH. Its adapts. So if you're to acidic it will neutralise acid, and if you're too alkaline it will produce more acid

  • The alkaloids found in Noni have also proven to assist in combating infections bacterial strains.

  • Noni directly effects cellular development. It literally can break open a cell wall and allow for more nutrients to be absorbed into our cells as well as helping move waste from weakened or damaged cells. Noni is cellular.

Water is my life source. I drink 3-4 litres a day which some will say is too much and I agree. I really like water and I know drinking too much can flush essential vitamins and electrolytes out of my system. But drink water because it helps flush toxins out of your body and makes you feel like a diamond.

Green tea is my second life source. I drink a lot of tea. Green tea is high in antioxidants and helps prevent free-radical damage.

Activated Charcoal is made from charred coconut so doesn't have carcinogens like your run of the mill BBQ charcoal. Don't take that. The charcoal must be food grade and you can buy it any old health food shop. Mix a teaspoon in your water. Charcoal acts as a chelator and adsorbs (not absorbs, I know what I'm talking about) toxins through its little pores. It also detoxes heavy metals. Adsorption is the act of electrical attraction of toxins and heavy metals, but not beneficial nutrients to the fine charcoal particles. This is more of a chelation type deal. The charcoal itself is not absorbed into the body, so the toxins attached to the charcoal particles exit. Just generally, it is good to keep charcoal in the house in case of poisoning. Even animals can take it.

Udo's Choice 3-6-9 Blend is a vegan source of Omega's 3, 6 and 9. Its great for skin, cell production, anti-aging as well as good brain function which explains why I'm so damn sharp.

Green Nutritionals's Green Superfoods uses Spirulina from pure, mineral rich, deep Ocean Water from 2000 feet below the Pacific containing a unique array of 94 trace elements. My fave pill contains Hawaiian Spirulina, Chlorella, Australian Organic Alfalfa and Barley Grass and Organic Marine Plant Minerals - these amazing products are the Kings of the green superfoods. It is also really great to take foods that are in their whole form, rather than isolating one vitamin in a little white pill, this will adapt to your body and is great if you're vego or vegan. I <3 it.

5-HTP is an amino acid that is the precursor to Serotonin so helps with mood. This isn't an everyday supplement I take, but when I do take it in the suggested dose I find it is amazing for mood and appetite and overall greatness.

So there you have it. This routine is subject to change, depending on what jar of mother natures magic I have in my cupboard and this doesn't include my elixir of life green smoothie that I make every morning. More on that later.

As with anything - I ain't no Dr. so don't tout this as gospel, please!
